How To Set Up A Cisco Lab On Linux (CentOS 5.2) I recently decided to study for the Cisco CCSP certification. My main concern in the beginning was the fact that most of the lab simulation software that I found out there could only run on Windows, this was a problem for me given the fact that I do not own a windows computer. After a quick search I found the wonderful Dynamips project that goes beyond what other simulators do by running actual Cisco IOS images, as well as the PEMU project which allows for running of Cisco PIX images. To integrate the various pieces of software and provide an interface for interaction with the devices I used dynagen.

I've got Packet Tracer. I've also heard that now it's free.
I can share if anyone want's it.
pls share Packet tracer
more information than just to say "extract the images" please. There are lots of free downloads for pix images of windows applications?
Do people have to buy the images from cisco just to learn how to use them? Little confusing for me to know what this how-to is for since I don't know cisco. If I did know cisco I would't need this how-to right?
I hate to be the one to say it, because it is truly stupid. I had the same question a few months ago, and it turns out that the images are under copyright by Cisco. So, the author would be liable for copyright infringement if he provided you with them.
If you can find something called Packet Tracer, it has an awesome emulator, as well as some great visual aids for learning Cisco gear.
Great tutorial. I have not looked into Cisco emulation on Linux before. I have used the Boson netsim on Windows years ago but it is nice to have an emulator that can run the real thing and even better to have one that runs on Linux.
One suggestion. If you are running webmin on its default port 10000 you will receive a 206-unable to create UDP NIO error. I would make note of this in the tutorial to save people some time troubleshooting.
Thanks for the heads up on this great software
