How To Implement SPF In Postfix
Author: Falko Timme • Tags: postfix, antivirus • Comments: 18How To Implement SPF In Postfix This tutorial shows how to implement SPF (Sender Policy Framework) in a Postfix 2.x installation. The Sender Policy Framework is an open standard specifying a technical method to prevent sender address forgery. There are lots of SPF extensions and patches available for Postfix, but most require that you recompile Postfix. Therefore we will install the postfix-policyd-spf-perl package from openspf.org which is a Perl package and can be implemented in existing Postfix installations (no Postfix compilation required).

Postfix Monitoring With Mailgraph And pflogsumm On Debian Etch This article describes how you can monitor your Postfix mailserver with the tools Mailgraph and pflogsumm. Mailgraph creates daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly graphs of sent, received, bounced, and rejected emails and also of spam and viruses, if SpamAssassin and ClamAV are integrated into Postfix (e.g. using amavisd-new). These graphs can be accessed with a browser, whereas pflogsumm ("Postfix Log Entry Summarizer") can be used to send reports of Postfix activity per email.

How To Block Spam Before It Enters The Server (Postfix)
Author: Falko Timme • Tags: antivirus, postfix • Comments: 14How To Block Spam Before It Enters The Server (Postfix) The last few weeks have seen a dramatic increase in spam (once again). Estimates say that spam makes now up for 80 - 90% of all emails, and many mail servers have difficulties in managing the additional load caused by the latest spam, and spam filters such as SpamAssassin do not recognize large parts of that spam as they did before. Fortunately, we can block a big amount of that spam at the MTA level, for example by using blacklists, running tests on the sender and recipient domains, etc. An additional benefit of doing this is that it lowers the load on the mail servers because the (resource-hungry) spamfilters have to look at less emails.

Autoresponders to accompany Virtual Users and Domains with Postfix, Courier and MySQL
Author: todgerme • Tags: postfix • Comments: 5Autoresponders to accompany Virtual Users and Domains with Postfix, Courier and MySQL This guide focuses on making Yaa! (Yet Another Autoresponder!) work with Debian Sarge and the virtual users on Postfix tutorial (see http://www.howtoforge.com/virtual_postfix_mysql_quota_courier). The first thing to understand about the guide is that it uses the Virtual Delivery Agent (VDA) and as a result any of the auto responders that you could use by passing them to a pipe via a .forward file simply won't work as the VDA does not support .forward expansions. This limitation can be overcome via Procmail/Maildrop delivery but that is messy and slower especially for mail systems that are heavily used. The simple answer is Yaa!
