Comments on Virtual Hosting With Proftpd And MySQL (Incl. Quota) On Ubuntu 14.04LTS
This document describes how to install a Proftpd server that uses virtual users from a MySQL database instead of real system users. This is much more performant and allows to have thousands of ftp users on a single machine. In addition to that I will show the use of quota with this setup. This tutorial is based on Ubuntu 14.04LTS.

Thanks for this beautiful post. Understanding and implementation was very easy, and almost cried seeing how simple this is. There's a problem for me though. I'm using directories which apache2 uses (via vhosts) and 550 permission denied errors occur upon creation and editing. How can i use a directory for FTP when it is used for another server(in my example Apache2)? Thank you...
