Great work as always! One question is it a good idea to install the canonical live-patch service? If yes why not including it in this tutorial? Thanks a lot for your efforts!

To install Ubuntu 20.04 as server or other system you can use the mini.iso as with previous versions, located at http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/focal/main/installer-amd64/current/legacy-images/netboot/mini.iso

Then you can build your system from there.

I did this to the letter, and when applying the netplan for some reason my network gets disabled and i cannot connect to it anymore...

One possible explanation is that the ip address 192.168.0.100 Might not work for you.  What is the ip address of your router? If it's 192.168.1.1, then you'll want to change the address in the netplan config file to 192.162.1.xxx.  What I did was log into my router and see what ip address was assigned to my server, set it up as a static ip in the router, and then used that where the instructions say "192.168.0.100"

Hi Till, thank you for all your tutorials, I am learning new skills every day thanks to you. One question though. In the hosts file edit you wrote,127.0.0.1 localhost 192.168.1.100 server1.example.com server1 Should the second line not read . . 192.168.0.100 server1.example.com server And if not, then why not? thanks for all your efforts.
