Comments on Setting up your own name service (DNS) with ISPConfig
Internet works with IP numbers and to get from a domain name to its IP number address the Domain Name System DNS is used. You can set up your own name service or use, for example, your hosting provider's name service. This tutorial shows how to run your own nameserver setup with ISPConfig.

Fellow Northman. Welcome 2 NerdHerd. :)
Great product and tutorial, as usual. i've been using the ISPC for over a decade and this v.3.1x is fantastic. Another option (maybe a perfect option for some folks) for dns servers is to use the ISPC's dns as the "Master" (hidden from the world) and Lxd/Lxc containers (or other vm program) for two or more "Slave" dns servers. Using containers(vm's) uses less electricity, less hardware and reduces dusty clutter :)
Also check the registration. Use the websites that check your name service setup, or command whois with your domain name as parameter. For example
whois howtoforge.com
If there is a problem with the registration, you domain will not work for others (it only works if directly using the name servers you set up).
Hi. We bought /24 PA Ip adresses. I asked the provider how can I have rDNS. He said: Zona reverse 27.96.80.in-addr.arpa was delegated to my 2 nameservere, the Zone can be populated on these nameservers with PTR recordes.
I created the zone 27.96.80.in-addr.arpa in Ispconfig, in the server where is located the name servers, I populated, but something is wrong...
Hi. My previous comment is no longer valid. Thank you!
