Great job on the write up. I was concerned about upgraded because I use Ubuntu as a web server and didn't want my sites to go offline in a result of updating. Things worked out great following the tutorial.

Hi, I was updating from 10.4 to 10.10 and I left it running without checking it.  When I came back, I was at the slide where you say:

"You might see the following message (Continue without installing GRUB?). I recommend to check the checkbox and click on Forward so that the system will continue to use the old, working GRUB. If you don't check the checkbox , the update manager will install a new GRUB and ask you on which device/partition it should be installed which can make the system unbootable if you select the wrong device/partition. "

Well, apparently they didn`t give me the choice, because all of a sudden, my computer turned off and now it is doing what you said.  I can turn the computer on, but then get a message :

"Install Problem! The configuration defaults for gnome power manager have not been installed correctly.  Please contact your  computer administrator."

Now what do I do?

The only thing I didn't like about the process was the "Release Notes" instead of "Upgrade Notes". Everything else, is very intuitive and goes smoothly.
