Comments on How to Upgrade Linux Kernel in Ubuntu 16.04 Server
In this tutorial, I will show you how to upgrade the Ubuntu kernel to use the latest mainline kernel build provided by the Ubuntu kernel Team. I will be using Ubuntu 16.04.2 Xenial Xerus with default kernel version 4.4 as basis upgrade it to the 4.11.2 kernel version.

Thanks for this tutorial, but one should be aware that if they are about to "break" the stability of the LTS by doing this, I would highly recommend to upgrade to 17.04 instead, taking into account that the LTS is a choice for stability, having serious reasons.
P.S
The RSS feed is always poping up a tab, from thunderbird, to firefox with title "Twitter Widget Log Helper" and it is not the best thing to happen on my screen every time :-)
Thanks
I just tested the feed but I can't reproduce the behavior that you describe. I've added the Howtoforge feed URL https://www.howtoforge.com/feed in Thunderbird. Thunderbird loads the feed fine and when I click on one of the tutorial URL's in Thunderbird, then my default browser opens the tutorial page, no "Twitter Widget Log Helper" widget. When you look at the XML of the Howtoforge feed directly, then you can see that it does not contain any ads nor third party URL's or redirects.
Great stuff for running older software on newer hardware.
However, wouldn't one be better off using an actual supported method like 'LTS Enablement Stacks'?
"The Ubuntu LTS enablement (also called HWE or Hardware Enablement) stacks provide newer kernel and X support for existing Ubuntu LTS releases."

Awesome tutorial, had major issues upgrading my kernal and followed this guide end-to-end and worked perfectly. Thanks for taking the time to post this.
