Thanks.

 Ive been using Linux for 2 years now without a safety net  (anyone who I know who uses it) and its thanks to google searching and finding articles like this and the simple ability to copy-paste that Ive done it.

There is the "Show new distribution releases" option in

KPackageKit > Settings > Edit Software Sources > Updates tab

 Isn't it an easier way to enable new release notification?
