How To Install XFCE On Linux Mint 14 XFCE is a lightweight desktop environment. For Linux Mint 13, the was an XFCE edition in addition to the Cinnamon and Mate editions, but for Linux Mint 14, there isn't. This short guide explains how to install XFCE on your Linux Mint 14 desktop.

There is an XFCE version of Mint 14.  The release candidate is there for the downloading.

or you could just download the release candidate for Mint 14 XFCE http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2246 (if you wait a week or two it will be final)

Or you could just use the command

sudo apt-get install xfce4

I'd rather use apt-get than any GUI package installer.

Xubuntu saves battery life more than mint. After installing xubuntu desktop environment, does it provide the same battery performance as the original xubuntu desktop environment does?
