In Step 3 there appears to be 2 steps missing:

After pinging the service a "CONFIG REWRITE" should be issued to saved the default password, otherwise you will receive a Redis "NoAuth" error. 

Additionally after exiting the Redis-cli adding auto start commands:

sudo systemctl enable redis-server.service

sudo systemctl start redis-server.service

sudo systemctl status redis-server.service
