Comments: 0 Striping Across Four Storage Nodes With GlusterFS 3.2.x On Ubuntu 12.04 This tutorial shows how to do data striping (segmentation of logically sequential data, such as a single file, so that segments can be assigned to multiple physical devices in a round-robin fashion and thus written concurrently) across four single storage servers (running Ubuntu 12.04) with GlusterFS. The client system (Ubuntu 12.04 as well) will be able to access the storage as if it was a local filesystem. GlusterFS is a clustered file-system capable of scaling to several peta-bytes. It aggregates various storage bricks over Infiniband RDMA or TCP/IP interconnect into one large parallel network file system. Storage bricks can be made of any commodity hardware such as x86_64 servers with SATA-II RAID and Infiniband HBA.

I will show how I stream my desktop with audio from pulse and webcam from video4linux2. I will also show how to configure crtmpserver and flowplayer so you can watch the live stream from a web browser. In this scenario I use separate host for the tools. Flowplayer is installed on a server running Apache, crtmp server is on a separate server and ffmpeg is installed on the streaming desktop.
