That is because the person who created this howto doesn't know how to correctly install cinnamon on Ubuntu 11.10.

I just want to point out that Cinnamon is available for other distributions of Linux, and that instructions for all of them can be found here:
http://cinnamon.linuxmint.com/?page_id=61
We in non-Ubuntu-land enjoy Cinnamon, as well. :D
When I try the "Installation On Ubuntu 11.10", I get the following warning:
GPG error: http://packages.linuxmint.com lisa Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 3EE67F3D0FF405B2
How can I fix this?
Try following:
sudo apt-get install linuxmint-keyring
and proceed as described.
You need to add the Mint keyring to Ubuntu after adding the mint repo
i.e. sudo apt-get install linuxmint-keyring
Have a look at the following page for more details

so the Mint crew's idea to make Gnome 3 better is to make it look like KDE4?
Great idea.
Grow up.
