This is exactly what I want to do! - problem is, it doesn't work. :( I am running 18.04, but when I click compress, it only gives me options for .zip, .tar.xz, and .7z.
Any ideas? Thanks. :)
in Ubuntu 18.04 there is not any more the option to select a password as it is used to be in Ubuntu 16.04
if you open the zip after compressing and then click the 3 bar menu, select "password" you can then encrypt it when you click saveubuntu 18+++ is going all windows by hiding essential things to make it look pretty....eg firefox won't let you diasble update checks now, the old days are over the snoopers won.
