How to install X2Goserver on CentOS 7 as an alternative for VNC This document describes how to use X2Goserver as an alternative of VNC. I will install and configure X2Goserver on CentOS 7. X2Go enables us to access a graphical desktop of a computer over a low bandwidth (or high bandwidth) connection. X2Go is a Remote Desktop solution, which some vendors vaguely call Remote Control. This is not to be confused with Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection, which is a competing Remote Desktop solution and protocol. With X2Go, we can access Linux computers. The Linux computer we are accessing is the X2Go Server. The best part is that it supports sound transmission over remote connections.

curl: (22) The requested URL returned error: 404 Not Found error: skipping http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/7/x86_64/e/epel-release-7-1.noarch.rpm - transfer failed
Use this updated link instead:
rpm -ivh http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/7/x86_64/e/epel-release-7-2.noarch.rpm
1. EPEL link has changed again.
I used: rpm -ivh http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/7/x86_64/e/epel-release-7-5.noarch.rpm
2. These commands did not work:
firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-service=ssh
firewall-cmd --reload
But has not prevented anything working.
Thanks for a great guide!
user on centos 7 or below must run:
Yum remove firewalld an then config iptables e.g
yum install iptables*
and something is fine
Thanks a lot
You do not have to care where the epel relese up ist just do >
yum -y install epel-release.noarch
Using x2go use right mous bottom to del your logout Bottom on the top right

Hi,I'm trying to use x2go on centos 6.8, but after succesfull installation (yum install x2goserver) I still don't have the command "x2goclient" available. Could you please tell me what can be the problem? thanks!
Changed to epel-release-7-8.noarch.rpm.
I don't understand why you are installing EPEL from external URLs. Just do 'yum install -y epel-release', it's included in CentOS extras already.
Thank you very much! I've lost several days unsuccessfully getting tigervnc to work on Centos 7. X2go worked instantly!
Thanks a lot. I tried using XRDP but didn't get a proper GUI, using X2Goserver fixed it. Works great.
