Comments on How to extend GIMP with GMIC
GIMP is the n1 open source image editor and raster graphics manipulator that offers an array of special effects and filters out of the box. Although the software's default capabilities will be more than enough for most people out there, there isn't any reason why you couldn't expand them if you wished for it. While there are many ways to do exactly that, I will focus on how to enrich your GIMP filters and effects sets with the use of G'MIC.

I am a long time user of the GIMP but lately I have started using Krita a lot more. They both have similar core functionality but each has some things that the other does not have or does something better than the other. Both of them can use G'MIC.
Haven't used G'MIC yet, which is why I'm here, but I lately have been using Medibang Paint for more creative things and gimp mostly for technical and editing. Never quite got a handle on using Krita after GIMPing for so long.
Thank you! This helped!
I really need instructions on how to use the stand alone G'MIC on Windows 10. Do I need a "shell". If, so, I have no idea how to set that up. I have a 64 bit laptop, Windows 10, Gimp 2.10.12 version of Gimp. Thank you in advance if you can help.
