Upgrade/Migrate VMware ESX / ESXi 4.* To ESXi 5.0 VMware has recently released its new VM hypervisor product, VMware ESXi 5.0. VMware is replacing its current ESX model with ESXi and the biggest change (between ESX and ESXi) is the architecture, as most of you VM gurus are well aware of, but for the people that don't know I will quickly explain.

Nice simple explanation. Now I hope it goes as well for me :)
The only thing I would add (unless I missed it on the read) would be to put the ESXi host into maintenance mode in VCentre Operations before beginning the upgrade to 5
I've got an server running esxi4, with an extra driver for my raid card. Does the driver work under esxi5 or do I need to install a new driver ?
good one ..was stuck on a step and google it follow this article and it worked as is
Many thanks!!
this worked the same for 4.x to 5.5 upgraded on hp proliant server
Nice article but i think before upgradation of esxi we need to upgrade Vcenter first to provide the support to the lower versions of the esxi.
Thanks
