Enabling Compiz Fusion On Linux Mint 11 This tutorial shows how you can enable Compiz Fusion on a Linux Mint 11 desktop (the system must have a 3D-capable graphics card - I'm using an NVIDIA GeForce 8200 here). With Compiz Fusion you can use beautiful 3D effects like wobbly windows or a desktop cube on your desktop.

There's a common error connected to the nvidia drivers, stating that they are activated but not in use. This will prevent 3D effects from running correctly (or at all). However this tutorial is a way around this, that is why it may seem a bit too complicated to people not coping with this error.
Confused also. I believe that the only necessary step in this tutorial is ensuring that a good driver is installed for your graphics card. Otherwise Compiz is ready to enable on Mint 11 from the menu launcher. Am I missing something here?
I thought the whole point of Mint was to have more refinements and things working out of the box than Ubuntu. Compiz already works out of the box on Ubuntu, so why is it necessary to do this on Mint? Just wondering.
