sounds like DNS problems to me.

on the server if you type:
    dig outlook.com

does it comes back with the correct ip address ?

what are your /etc/network/interfaces and /etc/hosts files settings ?

I don't think it's a dns issue. I was wondering if it was some type of hack to gain access to my mail server.
