I`m currently using for my dns setup. I noticed today that there was something called backup dns wich basicly ment using freedns as secondary DNS server.

Is it possible to use this with ispconfig? In that case, how?

Yes, it's very easy. Let's say your ISPConfig box is Simply create all DNS records using ISPConfig's DNS-Manager (it takes care of the serials), and then tell that the primary DNS server is
Make sure your firewall on doesn't block port 53 TCP and UDP.
And at the registrar where you registered your domains you might have to specify the name server as secondary name server.
    That's all. :)
