I just updated to he latest version of ISPConfig and not my POP server won't work. Whenever I tried to check my e-mail using Thunderbird, it tells me the connection is refused. What logs can I check to see what the problem is?

Your POP3 server isn't running. Start it, and it should work again.

Your POP3 server is running. What's the exact error message you get? Any errors in your mail log? If you use a firewall, make sure that port 110 is allowed.

Just wanted to check the error message and it works. Don't have a clue why now. Beats me.

    Thanks for checking though!

What should I type in to start it? Even after a reboot it still won't start so something tells me that if I have to manually type something in, it's going to only work until I reboot the server.

That depends on your pop3 server. If you have a file like courier-pop3 or courier-pop in /etc/init.d/, then run:

    /etc/init.d/courier-pop start

    or

    /etc/init.d/courier-pop3 start

If you have a file with the name "dovecot" in /etc/init.d/, then run:

    /etc/init.d/dovecot start

    tcp4 or tcp6

    Similar problem.
I noticed that my server is not running the pop or imap service in tcp4.

    How can I fix this?

Do you get any error messages when you try to connect to POP3?
Which distribution are you using? Does your firewall allow port 110?

Actually mail services seem to work correctly.
The problem was actually solved on other posting here.
(Why can client login on webmail but not on thunderbird.)

I'm just wondering why netstat -an did not show pop on tcp4, just on tcp6?
