    I am running Ubuntu 8.04 and have two IP-adresses on the external nic.
    I also have Ispconfig 2.2.37.

    My problem is that Postfix seems to use random IP when it sends mail and that is a problem with the PTR at some other mailservers.
    I have PTR at my ordinary IP and url for the server but not the other.

    How can I force Postfix to use a specific IP?

    Edit the file /etc/postfix/main.cf and add or edit the line:

    smtp_bind_address = 123.123.123.123

    where 123.123.123.123 is your primary IP. Then restart postfix.
