    Hi all,

First off all my excuses for my bad english, but it isn't my native language.

Than my problem, when following the great howto, as a newbie I get this failer when starts my server.
this is what I see before "logging in" in my screen:

    .....
Starting mail service (Postfix)/etc/init.d/proftpd: line 52: ./etc/rc.status: Permission denied
    /etc/init.d/proftpd: line 55: rc_reset: command not found
Starting ProFTPD Server: /etc/init.d/proftpd: line 62: rc_status: command not found
    /etc/init.d/proftpd: line 120: rc_exit: command not found
-Fatal: UseIPv6: Use of the UseIPv6 directieve requires IPv6 Support (--enable-ipv6) on line 14 of '/etc/proftpd.conf'
    ......

after logging in I try to start proftpd manual with '/etc/init.d/proftpd start'

    then I get this:

/etc/init.d/proftpd: line 52: ./etc/rc.status: no such file or directory
    /etc/init.d/proftpd: line 55: rc_reset: command not found
Starting ProFTPD Server: -Fatal: UseIPv6: Use of the UseIPv6 directieve requires IPv6 Support (--enable-ipv6) on line 14 of '/etc/proftpd.conf'
startproc: exit status of parent of /usr/local/sbin/proftpd: 1
    /etc/init.d/proftpd: line 62: rc_status: command not found
    /etc/init.d/proftpd: line 120: rc_exit: command not found

Where goes it wrong? Please some advice.

    grtz en tnx.

    What's in /etc/init.d/proftpd and /etc/proftpd.conf?

Falko tnx for the reply, as I said before, I'am a complete newbie @ Linux. Thats why I made this install in VMware, and I haven't found I way to copy and paste from the Howto site, to the VI editor running in Linux, under VMware. So I thought I made maybe a typo, and deleted the image, and try again. Maybe you have a tip for me, how about to copy en paste?

    Grtz from here.
