SSL not working properly

I installed ISPconfig 2 on my Debian Lenny root server according to the perfect server setup. At the end I chose to use https for accessing ISPconfig.

Then I bought an SSL certificate at Namecheap. I installed it in ISPconfig, but when I access it, it still displays as unsecure. What could be the problem?

How exactly did you install it?

I went into ispconfig, opened the web in question. Then I opened the SSL tab. Then I saved, then I went back and there was the SSL Request and I fed that into Namecheap's request form and then I got the SSL Certificate code via e-Mail.

    Was that wrong?

That way you can create an SSL certificate for that web site, but not for the ISPConfig control panel - if I understand you right, this is what you want, isn't it?

Yes exactly... How would I create a sertificate for the the ISPConfig control panel?

Oh crap I just remembered... It runs its own apache2 service, doesn't it? I completely forgot...

SSL cert very old after install

    Hi
    I just Installed ISPconfig server
(perfect setup ispconfig2 on Karmic koala, ubuntu 9.10).
Changed default admin port to 82 due to conflict with IPcop firewall.

When I login to control panel via https://xyz.server.com:82 firefox
show me the (sec_error_expired_issuer_certificate) message, and
that is absolutely correct, because the certificate
    expired 1973-12-06 18:50 ?!?
I probably messed up somewhere during install, although I can't
see were, I did followed the perfect setup.
Now I need to find the instruction for how to regenerate/reissue
certificate for controlpanel, and probably for the virtwebserver as well.
Pls, tell me were to find a step by step instruction or similiar. Tried to
search the web and forums but found so much alike my question but
nothing I felt I could follow.

    Take a look at http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showpost.php?p=358&postcount=4

You send /root/ispconfig/httpd/conf/ssl.csr/server.csr to your CA and paste the certificate into /root/ispconfig/httpd/conf/ssl.crt/server.crt, then restart ISPConfig.

    Thanks Falko :)

When I set up the SSL with Namecheap, I can select several server types. I am stuck between "Apache 2" and "Apache + OpenSSL". Which one should I choose? I installed everything in accordance with the Perfect Server Setup (Debian Lenny, ISPconfig 2).

    Edit:
I chose Apache + Open SSL and completed all instructions. Looks like everything went just fine. Thanks for your help Falko :)

Yes, Apache + OpenSSL is correct because ISPConfig 2 comes with Apache 1.3.x.
