    Hi,

im not very clued up with linux, i would like to setup a smtp server because my isp limits the number of emails we can send per hour to 400 and we're are the moment getting to the limit all the time. I've setup "The Perfect Server - Ubuntu 10.04 [ISPConfig 3]" and it looks like everything is working fine. How do I now use this server as my smtp server with the public address so that instead of using my isp?

    Thanks in advance

Is the server located in a data center? Because if you host it on your DSL/cable line, your public IP is probably blacklisted, and you can't use the server to send emails.

no its not in data center is on my dsl line but its not blocked. Do you mean that I can not host my own smtp server on a dsl line?

    Hi,

I setup "The Perfect Server - Debian Lenny (Debian 5.0) [ISPConfig 3]", and pointed the mx settings from a domain i registered to my server and I can send emails.

I'll play with it a bit and see how it goes.

    Thanks a lot
