Are there any errors in your mail log (in the /var/log/ directory)?

I've got the same issue, but no snapshot to revert back to. Any other solutions?

servers with dovecot sasl seems to be ok, instead the only one with courier has needed a saslauthd restart
as far as I have seen

EDIT: in dovecot servers there is not saslauthd, atr all, and after reboot still login failed
