I have some odd behaviour when using a site's shell. The shell can enter the web directory but commands such as ls it returns 'permission denied'

I notice in another thread the version of jailkit is questioned. I did go through a stage Of experimenting with apt upgrade commands... Is this likely to have caused a problem for me? How so I find out which version I'm using?

    Any ideas welcome.

Jailkit wasn't installed through apt, so you'd have to build it yourself.

I think you can use the -v or -V switch with one of the Jailkit programs to find out the Jailkit version.

Thanks, should have remembered that I had to build it. Didn't realise that apt wouldn't update or upgrade these programs, but with that in mind, I would be the correct version as I followed the guide.

As it happens, i created a new shell for another site at it works correctly. I think the original problem may have been caused as I may have copied the web directory from another site using the root account. May explain permission problems.

Never did work out how to detect the current version of jailkit.
