    Hi !

I'm not stupid but last time I dealed with this kind of questions was in 2000 :D
And I just read the 300 pages of ISPConfig Manual, but...

There is something that I not sure to understand.

I currently have a domain pointing on 1&1's computer. I want to stop my contract with 1&1.

I rent a server at since 2 days.
I set ISPConfig and FTP my pages on this new server.
I can verify that all works fine using temporary domain provided by

I want my site to be now active on the new server.
I have to ask DNS to point my domain to the new IP.

But I don't understand why I must use ISPConfig to do that ?
Why can't I simply ask current DNS to point to the new IP ?

    Another question :

I intend to have 3 websites on my server.
How will ISPConfig manage that ?
Will it macht automatically proper website depending of the request's domain ?

Thanks a lot for your futur answer, regards.

You don't have to use ISPConfig for that - of course, you can continue to use your current nameservers. The DNS module is needed only if you want to run your own nameservers with ISPConfig.

Yes. ISPConfig configures name-based vhosts in Apache.

    Hi !

    There is something wrong !!!

The last month, I put my web site formation-sketchup(dot)com on my new server.

    All works fine.

The last week, I asked DNS pointing the IP ( of my new server for the two following domain :
    - minimal-beton(dot)com
    - habilitation-electrique(dot)org

And today, whichever I enter one of the 3 domain, it's formation-sketchup(dot)fr that come !

So. There is something I don't understand.
I believed that IPSConfig set Apache server to dispatch http request depending of URL ?

    Thanks for your help !

Are you running your own nameservers for formation-sketchup(dot)com?

It sounds like your ISP has your domain formation-sketchup(dot)com pointing to your single static IP - if this is the case then nameservers for example:
can be nameservers for your other domain names.

Unless I am mistaken, you can only run one domain and it's nameservers from one public IP address. You can add your other domains via ISPConfig and they will have private IP address's on your local network.

    Thanks for your answer.

    I'm not using ISPconfig's DNS.
I simply ask to manage my three domain and point them to my IP

Under ISPConfig : the property "Auto-Subdomain" of each my domains are set to: "none"

I just set this property to "*." and all works fine.

    Thanks for your help.
