I have been following the instructions and got to setting up the slave DNS servers

I was wanting to have a third DNS server. i.e. ns3.mydomain.xx.xx and having created the user and given privileges on the master server proceeded to build a sixth server.

When I got to setup ISPconfig3 on that server I got the following result

Shall this server join an existing ISPConfig multiserver setup (y,n) [n]: y

MySQL master server hostname []: web.mydomain.xx.xx

MySQL master server root username [root]:

MySQL master server root password []: ********

MySQL master server database name [dbispconfig]:

ERROR: Stopped: Database already contains some tables.

Is this not possible, or what have I done wrong?

Yu can have as many dns servers in ispconfig as you want, just indtall all additional servers in the exact same way as described in the multiserver guide you posted the link for. The error message is abou the local mysql database contains already some tables, so its not about the remote database on the master. Each dns node has to run its own local mysql sdrver on localhost and you have to provide in the ispconfig installer the login details and a database name for a new database that the installer will create locally on the server to cache data of the master server.

Thanks Till. I thought it should be possible. Turned out to be a typo I made with database privileges for that sixth server's root user on the master web server. All fixed now.

    Hi Till
i remember that only one slave dns server is supported (at least, this was until or something near, one year ago).
I have 4 dns server, all belong to multiserver but only the second is slave managed by central control panel; the third and fourth are synced by some obvious bash script
So, they are always in sync, but they are NOT managed by central control panel.
Is this changed by that time?
Can I manage as many slaves server as I want?
