We have a litle delay when we try to send mails from PHP.
To send a form we have a 40 seconds delay.

    Our log says...

    Oct 3 12:22:40 server1 sendmail[31999]: STARTTLS=client, relay=[], version=TLSv1/SSLv3, verify=FAIL, cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA, bits=256/256

    Oct 3 12:22:40 server1 sendmail[31999]: k93AMPlB031999: to=[email protected], ctladdr=apache (48/48), delay=00:00:15, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=30251, relay=[] [], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (Ok: queued as 86CB74D00B9)

I don't see anything unusual in your logs. The delay might be caused by spam- and virus scanners, etc.
