How do I check on the slave to verify the master records are being seen on the slave? When I go to the control panel and select the second server, there are no zones.

Also how can I verify that the server is working correctly prior to changing the NS records for our domain?

Did you set up slave zones in ISPConfig? These are not created automatically.

Where can I find that in the manual? I think I have the master working, but not sure how to test before making it public.

In the DNS module, there's a section called "Secondary DNS".

Is it possible you created the same zone as a primary zone on that server?

I bungled my server by upgrading past 15 not knowing that ISPConfig is not supported. Does th4e database still exist and where can I find it to save it for a reinstall?

The ispconfig database is normally named "dbispconfig" and you can export them with phpmyadmin or the mysqldump tool.
