Hi, Before I go on, please let me apologise in advance for my apparent stupidity. I have followed the fedora 8 install instructions, installed ISPConfig, and now have a lovely admin interface. at https://192.168.0.123:81 (obviously it is a fake number!) When I navigate to my "IP" ( i have not added this to any dns yet ( but thats another story)) I get the share IP page ( using http://123.123.123.123/ ) HOW is my server going to know what to show? For the sake of clarity - Imagine if you will that I have a firewall IP of 123.123.123.123 I point an external DNS server to www.mysuperhostingservice.com for example dyndns.org - I have little or no money. it looks up 123.123.123.123 and sends the request over there. My firewall is set to send every "80", "21", etc request to "My Super Server" which is set to 192.168.0.123 for example I will get the shared site page - OR can those pages be replaced with my "Main" site - a blog or cms system or something? How do I go about doing that? ( not the cms system, they are easy). How do I make the shared IP page point at my /var/www/whatever site? NEXT Stupid Question My grandmother wants to host a Knitting site (LOL) so I set up a reseller->client-> site Now comes the bit i don't quite understand. What IP address do I give her? The smae one? do I just make one up? where do I put the IP - do I create a locale dns record using the tickbox? what about "Real World DNS" ( dyndns.org ) (123Reg ) www.mysuperhostingservice.com points to my firewall/router anyway So should I also point www.my.grannysknitting.com to my firewall When my firewall sends the request over, how does it know which site to choose? All my friends at the bar will be looking at how to make a cardigan or something. Please help. and put it in common mans terms so I can begin to understand PLEASE Martin
Yes, that is, to your router's public IP address. What's the output of Code: ifconfig , and what's in Vhosts_ispconfig.conf?
