Right, straight into the deep end.

First new to Linux, new to most of this. Ubuntu 7.1 installed and found the How To on the perfect server.

I made it step by step to page 4 and MySQL.

    " Then we restart MySQL:

    /etc/init.d/mysql restart

Now check that networking is enabled. Run "

    resulting in:

    /etc/init.d/mysql restart
    * Stopping MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ]
    * Starting MySQL database server mysqld [fail]

I have stopped, started, re-installed, removed and combed through here and the Ubuntu forum. No answers.

Somewhere there needs to be a reason or a way to check what the reason is that this is not firing back up.

    Thanks in advance.
