So I was talking to a friend and I told him about my setup. He suggested to test Zimbra and I would like to test it out for my mail server.

What I currently have is one server that is running a fully working ISPconfig setup. I want to replace the email portion of it with Zimbra on a second server.

Now would I follow the HowTo for setting up another Ubuntu server with ISPconfig 3 on it and if so how to I remove the email portion without breaking everything? (done it a few times and it never really works to not install everything)

Or how do I get a pure Zimbra server to work good with an ISPconfig server?

You can not use zimbra on a ispconfig server as it conflicts with the ispconfig mail setup. If you want to use zimbra for email, then install a separate server for zimbra or use a virtual machine on the ispconfig server and run zimbra in that virtual machine.
