When i'm trying to make a ftp- connection from a windows client from the dos-prompt, i can login but when i'm trying to make a folder with MKDIR i'm getting a 550 access denied message.

What can i do to make users to connect from a remote location?

A firewall is blocking the active FTP ports of your FTP server.

The alternative is that you selecte active FTP mode in your ftp client instead of passive ftp mode.
