I'm very, very new to Linux.

I'm trying to set up a email to so family from different states can have an email address and a file server to share pictures and files. I need help with a couple of things:

I have a Domain IP from GoDaddy, Router IP with Linksys and ISP IP with Comcast. Which IP do I put in the different places (Gateway, Primary DNS, Secondary DNS) when i'm installing Fedora (using the guide from this forum http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect_server_fedora7)

How do I run the commands in Fedora (yum, vi /etc/hosts)?

Do the stay when i'm editing the host?

Do I need to go to my DNS provider and make a name server for my email for the server1.example.com?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

The gateway is the router's local IP address (e.g.

Open a terminal and type in the commands. Regarding vi, take a look here: http://www.howtoforge.com/faq/12_15_en.html

server1.example.com is just an example. Use your own domain here (e.g. server1.yourdomain.com). It's a good idea to create a DNS record for it (pointing to your router's public IP address). I assume your domain registrar is currently managing your DNS records, so you'd have to create that DNS record in your registrar's web interface.
