    fail2ban.comm : WARNING Invalid command: ['set', 'courierpop3', 'failregex', 'courierpop3login: LOGIN FAILED.*ip=\\[.*:\\]']

    Warning invalid command. Can't make out the error cause.

    What should I look for? Thanks.

    Can you post your fail2ban configuration?

    I am wondering why your failregex are in jail.local. Don't you have a directory /etc/fail2ban/filter.d? There are all the files with the failregex'es, and there is also a file for courierpop3. But perhaps you are running an older version of fail2ban.

    Thanks, those lines were meant for debian etch. wonder from where I got it here.

    Anyway I have removed fail2ban with purge & reinstalled it.

    I am still facing the problem like, when I check fail to ban status with

    /etc/init.d/fail2ban status I get

    No idea, how to solve this?

    Sorry for the trouble. With
    sudo /etc/init.d/fail2ban

    I am getting
    * Status of authentication failure monitor
    * fail2ban is running
    Thanks.
