    I followed the instructions here: http://www.howtoforge.com/installation-guide-fedora8-desktop-p9, but I keep on getting this message in 'yum install skype'.

    Config Error: File contains parsing errors: file://///etc/yum.repos.d/skype.repo
    [line 2]: name=Skype Repository
    [line 3]: baseurl=http://download.skype.com/linux/repos/fedora/updates/i586/
    [line 4]: gpgkey=http://www.skype.com/products/skype/linux/rpm-public-key.asc
    [line 5]: gpgcheck=1
    [line 6]: enabled=1

    I'm using Fedora 8.

    What could be the problem?

    Hi,

    is there an empty line at the top? If yes remove it. The working configuration on my system:

    [olli@server1 ~]$ cat /etc/yum.repos.d/skype.repo
    [skype]
    name=Skype Repository
    baseurl=http://download.skype.com/linux/repos/fedora/updates/i586/
    gpgkey=http://www.skype.com/products/skype/linux/rpm-public-key.asc
    gpgcheck=1
    enabled=1

    Best regards,

    Olli
