SO i have ispconfig installed and running smooth.

Here is the problem. I have a client who hosts there own e-mail server. There mx records are pointed somewhere else. They run a maillist off the server. When they send mail to anyone not in there domain the mail works fine. But if its sent to any other domain hosted it does not work. How would i correct this.

    Example:
    Domain: example1.com

if i sent mail to billy@gmail.com mail is fine.
but if i send mail to billy@example1.com it wont go anywhere.

    Any help would be appreciate.

Please set mailserver to external in the settings of the website AND the settings of the co-domain for all domains that use a external mailserver.

ok so my quick fox maybe permanent was to delete the offending local domain names from

    /etc/postfix/local-host-names

is there any reason that i should not do this?

Yes. It wont helk as ISPConfig will add it again. Please do just what I told you above. You must set the domain to external in the website !!AND!! the co-domain. if you set it to external in both places, it will not appera in local-jost-names anymore.

I have set every domain on my server as external. And I was still having the same issues.

Then the local-host-files name must be empty except of the hostname of the server. If not, you missed the co-domains. Its not enough to set the websites to external!

never mind. I couldnt figure out how to set the co-domains.

you have to click on co-domain then click on the link, then options the set it.
