I have some websites with a very large amount of data. When that person downloads his backup, al the gigabytes are moved to the client backup folder. One website is 20 GB (many products and images etc) and when that moves happens, all the websites using fast-cgi are very slow because for some reason the move uses 100% fast-cgi (I can see that using "top"). Is there a way that such a move to the download folder uses another process?

Or maybe even better, can I setup a different file server? Or is that not going to solve the problem?

The backup move script is a php shell shell script and not a fast-cgi script. The script is separated from the scripts that run the website as it is a separate cronjob.
