I want to install new ISPConfig 3 final server on Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS
And after that I want to migrate from one machine with old ISPConfig 3.0 to new installed.
On old machine installed Courier, that as why I want to install it on new server for better migration compatibility.

Can I install Courier instead Dovecot?

For that i need to use this one from perfect install:

    apt-get install postfix postfix-mysql postfix-doc mysql-client mysql-server courier-authdaemon courier-authlib-mysql courier-pop courier-pop-ssl courier-imap courier-imap-ssl libsasl2-2 libsasl2-modules libsasl2-modules-sql sasl2-bin libpam-mysql openssl courier-maildrop getmail4 rkhunter binutils sudo gamin

    apt-get install postfix postfix-mysql postfix-doc mysql-client mysql-server openssl getmail4 rkhunter binutils dovecot-imapd dovecot-pop3d dovecot-mysql dovecot-sieve sudo

I havent tested courier on Ubuntu 12.04 but I expect that it should work out of the box.

I think you should consider migrating to dovecot. It is much faster than courier. I too migrated from courier to dovecot.

When the number of emails in your inbox is sizeable in number, with courier it takes ages to open and even fails to open many times, but using dovecot the mails in dovecot is displayed in few seconds with 10000 mails in the inbox.

The main reason is dovecot uses a index for the mails and courier doesn't.

Thank you for answer. But on old system is courier aprx 160 mail box - 150GB.
And I need to migrate it for 4 hours. Because need to start new system immediately after migration process.

If I will use courier on both systems - I only need to create the same users and to copy vmail folder it is all.
But if choose dovecot and migrate on it - it need much more time to migrate.
Need to copy each folder for each user.

May be you can to advise another steps for fast migration from courier to dovecot?

    Thank you.
