cant login into mail acc

    hello!

    i use roundcubemail as webclient and have a few email accounts which worked very vell, but suddenly i cant login to an account, the other logins are still working.

    if i try to download mail via outlook, it tells me that "your imap server has closed the connection. this may occour if you have left the connnection idle for too long".


    via webinterface i don't get an error message.. just an endless page-loading from firefox.. and then.. nothing.


    i realy dont know where to start because just this 1 account doesnt work, i tried to create a new password via ispconfig but that didnt help :)

    perhaps anyone can point me out please

    Which error messages do you get in the mail log file?

    when logging in with correct password i get those error msg:

    [18-Jul-2008 03:23:00] PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 120 seconds exceeded in /home/admispconfig/ispconfig/web/roundcubemail/program/lib/imap.inc on line 206

    with any other pwd i get a normal error message that the password was wrong:

    [18-Jul-2008 03:24:55 +0200] IMAP Error: Authentication for web2_mark failed (LOGIN): "a001 NO Login failed." in on line 0


    sending a mail to the account results in this error:

    <[email protected]> (expanded from <[email protected]>): maildir delivery failed:
    create maildir file
    /var/www/web2/user/web2_paul/Maildir/tmp/1216345205.P2099.webhost:
    Permission denied


    and i just notified that creating new mail accounts on this domain dont work too, well i can create them but i cant access them or send emails to it.


    other accounts on other domains are working well!

    hi.. ive created 2 new accounts.. 1 on the domain where all accounts except the admin one stopped working.


    ls -la after creation:

    (works)

    login doesnt work here.

    so i deleted all accounts and created a new admin account.. that works.

    creating only 1 account which isnt admin doesnt work too - but i get an error message - login failed.

    cat /home/admispconfig/ispconfig/web/roundcubemail/logs/errors

    anyway i recreated the domain and everything works fine atm, but another strange thing happend he didnt link the webX directory to www.domain.tdl in /var/www/

    I have similar experience and the following steps are what I did to solve the problem:

    a) login by ftp using the username and password of the mail account
    b) browse into Maildir folder
    c) download all mails from this folder (in particular mails from cur and new)
    d) delete the account from ISP config
    e) clear the Recycle bin (you may need to wait for a minute or so to clear)
    f) re-create the user account
    g) [if you so wish] re-upload the mails from the downloaded mails to the new user account Maildir folder using ftp. [But I would rather rename all the mails from the cur and new folders into *.eml and then drag them into the outlook express inbox (if you are using MS windows) and all of them will appear in the inbox.]


    Sorry this is a quick and dirty solution may be someone has a better way to solve.

    I come across this problem just once after using ISPconfig for 9 months.

    This problem is surely not unique to ISPconfig, I maintain another site using webmin and openwebmail and the same problem occurred too. This is most likely due to some emails having problem causing the error, or due to the user storing too many emails in the server which caused the time out. (may be adjust the php time out value can solve ? :) )

    Usually download the mails using a mail client will solve the problem but in extreme case I will use ftp.

    Again I think ISPconfig is one of the best open source solutions.
