As the title says , if I try to access the database on the link in the database list I get this :-
    Code:
    HTTP 500 error
That’s odd... the website can’t display this page
The site may be under maintenance or could have a programming error.
    Try this
Go back to the last page
    Try contacting the website’s owner
Can you give me some Direction on this please ?
    Thanks

Have you looked at the url link it is trying to load and check that is correct for phpmyadmin?

    Paul Hill Member HowtoForge Supporter

the link it throws is this ..
    Code:
    https://192.168.1.90:8080/sites/database_phpmyadmin.php?id=7
    the page says this :-
    Code:
    This site is not secure

This might mean that someone’s trying to fool you or steal any info you send to the server. You should close this site immediately.

    
    Go to your Start page
    Details
The hostname in the website’s security certificate differs from the website you are trying to visit.
    Error Code: DLG_FLAGS_SEC_CERT_CN_INVALID
Go on to the webpage (Not recommended)
I then click on the last line "Go on to the webpage (Not recommended)"

It then goes to URL :-
    Code:
    https://192.168.1.90:8080/phpmyadmin/
    which displays :-
    Code:
    HTTP 500 error
That’s odd... the website can’t display this page
The site may be under maintenance or could have a programming error.
    Try this
Go back to the last page
    Try contacting the website’s owner
This is the first time that we have tried to access this since a server transfer about 5 months ago . We replaced the original server with a more up-to-date version of ISPconfig3.1 that was downloaded as a VM . We used the migration tool that we purchased from howtoforge and it all seemed to transfer and work flawlessly ..
    Thanks

    I entered that into system>server>interface>main config>PHPMyAdmin URL .
    rebooted , same result .
What would be your next recommended step ?

Which exact VM do you use?

  7. Paul Hill

    Paul Hill Member HowtoForge Supporter

(Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS (Xenial Xerus)) ISPConfig 3.1.11
It was downloaded from your VM library

That's an operating system and ISPConfig version. To help you, I need to know which VM you refer to as there are different setups available for Ubuntu 16.04.

Hmm, it must be a different VM as that one is not compatible with ISPConfig.
    Please run this command:

    netstat -ntap | grep 80

    and post the result.

Ok, so it's the ISPConfig apache VM. Accessing phpmyadmin directly in the browser with this URL does not work as well, right?

    http://192.168.1.90/phpmyadmin/

if it does not work, then please try to reinstall phpmyadmin with:

    sudo apt-get install --reinstall phpmyadmin

    I reinstalled , I get the same result :(
the install ran with no issues , and it didn't ask me for any input ..

I'm assuming upgrading ISPconfig to the latest build would probably not fix it either right ?

After looking through various forums and trying , breaking , rolling back the VM I got it working .
I had to run this :-
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install php-gettext

now I can access it by going to :
    Code:
    https://www.mydomain.com/phpmyadmin
however if I follow the link in the database section in ISPconfig3.1 the link does not work .. can this be rectified ? It tries to go to the internal IP of the server and not the full public address ..
Thanks for your help by the way , I have learnt more about Linux from your site and your advice than anywhere else . ( Although I have to create whitepapers on each issue as I don't remember the details ) ...

    What is that link now?
    Have you set
    to something?

Till asked me to set it to:
    Code:
    http://192.168.1.90/phpmyadmin/
so external access cannot get to this because it is a LAN address so I need to change the entry in System > Interface config back again so it works , except I cant for the life of me remember what it should be set to lol …

If your server is behind a router and you want to access phpmyadmin from outside as well, then set it to the server hostname or your external IP, e.g. http://server.yourdomain.tld/phpmyadmin/
