I followed Virtual Users And Domains With Postfix, Courier And MySQL (Fedora Core 5) exactly with the exception of Clamv/Amavis/Spamassasin. I also am using Fedora Core 6. I used the following 3rd party software in place of the onces noted in the How-to:
    http://www.enlartenment.com/packages/fedora/6/i386/enlartenment-release-6-1.mf.noarch.rpm
    http://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pu...x/core/6/source/SRPMS/postfix-2.3.3-2.src.rpm
    http://web.onda.com.br/nadal/postfix/VDA/postfix-2.3.3-vda.patch.gz

I added a user and am able to receive email for that user. When I attempt to retreive the messages for that user this is what I get:

Jan 24 20:12:35 gabriel authdaemond: received auth request, service=pop3, authtype=login
Jan 24 20:12:35 gabriel authdaemond: authmysql: trying this module
    Jan 24 20:12:35 gabriel authdaemond: SQL query: SELECT email, password, "", 5000., 5000, "/home/vmail", "", "", "", "" FROM users WHERE email = "[email protected]"
Jan 24 20:12:35 gabriel authdaemond: supplied password does not match encrypted password
Jan 24 20:12:35 gabriel authdaemond: authmysql: REJECT - try next module
Jan 24 20:12:35 gabriel authdaemond: FAIL, all modules rejected
    Jan 24 20:12:35 gabriel pop3d: LOGIN FAILED, user=[email protected], ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1]

    courier-authlib-mysql-0.59-1.fc6.mf
    courier-authlib-0.59-1.fc6.mf
    mysql-server-5.0.27-1.fc6
    postfix-2.3.3-2

I have googled all day for this error and have not found a resolution.

    I have old_password=1 in my my.cnf

This is either too dificult or I haven't provided enough information. Does anyone have any sugestions? Should I replace the OS with FC5 and follow the How-To again? This seems to be my only option.

I have debugging turned on to show the password but the logs don't look like the others I have seen.

I noticed there are two field typs for password in PhpMyadmin and I have tried both.

Have you tried to follow the tutorial as close as possible?

There seems to be a problem with the password. Are you sure the password is correct?

I never resolved the issue before I reverted the OS to FC5. Now that I am on FC5 I have a different problem. I am authenticated for pop3 now but I am receiving an error
( I opened a new thread for it below)

You must send an email to a new email account first before you can try to fetch mails. Maildir is created when the first email arrives.
