Virtual Mail (postfix, courier, mysql) on Debian question

I followed the howto except I already had mysql installed on another machine and pointed all requests to it instead of installing mysql locally. It works fine but if I try to stress test it, I can't make more than 4 connections at a time. Is this a setting somewhere?

The machines that run the postfix and mysql are dual PIII-933s/512Mb RAM with 40mpbs SCSI Raid. The machines are connected via 100Mbps crossover cable, so the sql requests shouldn't lag any. I'm fairly certain that the 10Mbps connection to the pop/imap side isn't the problem also.

Any suggestions?

Are there any errors in your mail log?

The mail.log and mail.err does not show an error related to pop.

and mysql.err does not show any errors at all.

The message from Evolution is failed to read a valid response from pop server at mail._______.com

mail.err does show one error: dccproc: socket(UDP): Address family not supported by protocol

Does mail._______.com point to the correct server (i.e., is its DNS record ok)?

what it is: my boss has 7 email accounts on the same vmail server.

info@example1.com
admin@example1.com
info@example2.biz
etc.

all of his accounts in evolution point to the same server. It is not always the same account that fails. Thats the first thing I tracked down. Might be info@example1.com this time and someone@example2.biz next time.

Somehow it sounds like a problem with your server's network connection. Maybe a problem with the driver for the network card...
