Default Running A File-, Print-, Proxy-, DHCP-, AND Time-Server - Apt Problem

Hi Guys,

Whenever I install ebox I lose apt-update and apt-get communication, although wget works and before ebox install it worked.

I have tried stopping ebox, opening up port 21 in ebox, and a fresh install. Apt stopped working immediatley after install before any configuration.

pnr1:~/tmp# apt-get update
Hit http://ebox-platform.com ebox/ Packages
Ign http://ebox-platform.com ebox/ Release
Hit http://ebox-platform.com extra/ Packages
Ign http://ebox-platform.com extra/ Release
Hit http://security.debian.org stable/updates/main Packages
Hit http://security.debian.org stable/updates/main Release
Err ftp://debian.ihug.co.nz stable/main Packages
Could not connect to debian.ihug.co.nz:21 (203.109.252.55), connection timed out

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Mike

Lightbulb :s

I installed falcos vm image and it works flawlessly, I can't see where I went wrong. I would love to know the cause for future reference.

Ah ok, Falcos vm image had all sources set as http://, set my nz sources to http://ftp.... and they worked.

Must be something with ebox iproute blocking non standard services.

Maybe your firewall doesn't allow FTP connections, or debian.ihug.co.nz offers its service only on port 80 (http), not 21 (ftp).

Default Ebox

Yeah ebox 0.71 only alters iptables for a certain chain - output i think. It was stopping me running openvpn as well, I gave up and set up CUPS with web interface.

Cheers
