Default Ubuntu 5.04 Server Noob Problem

I'm trying to set up a server. I can log into root but i cant access any of the network settings, like /etc/network/interfaces. It says "Permission Denied" even in root. Could someone please help me out?

Which editor do you use when you get that error? You have to use a command line editor like vi, not a desktop editor. Also have a look here:
