Question Xen question, backup domU

i am now using xen (not yet in production) and love it!
What is the easiest way to backup a domU?
Is it possible to simply copy the domU file(.img) to a second server with scp.
While the domU is running? Do i lose data?

I tried with the xm save command but was not able to restore the domU only from that saved file.

Or should I mount the image file and backup the contents?

What is best practice for this, what do you use?

many thanks

I haven't tried it, but I think it should work.
