Default ISPConfig3 Client log into consol

Hi,
I would like to connect to my server using the ISPConfig3 generated username for my client, in this case username: 'web2' group: client1.
I've tried logging in through putty with the web2 username, but none of the passwords I've used on my server work including just pressing enter.

As the account was created by ISPConfig, I'm not sure what the password is, if there is one. (I don't know enough about user account creation and permissions yet.)

If I reset the password on the web2 account through the consol, logged in as su root from another account, will I break something within ISPConfig? Will this allow me to loging via puTTY? Or do I just need to change user permissions or ssh config?

Cheers,
Nap

You need to create a shell user under Sites > Shell > Shell Users.

Thnx Falko!
I see that I can add users. That solves my issue.

I notice the UserID field is the same for this user as it is for web2. And both have the same group of course.

So the web2 user created by ISPConfig is not intended to be used for logins, fair enough. Does that mean the web2 account is 'locked' in a similar manner to how Ubuntu creates the 'root' user when you install the distribution?

Cheers,
Nap

Yes, the web[id] users are only for internal use, they are not intended for login adn you should not assign a password manually t them. Insteadcreate a new shell user in ispconfig for login purposes.
