Default question: custom php.ini and my.cnf settings ?

Some scripts require more resources and max size allowances than what would normally be required for normal operations.
These allowances are typically in php.ini (max execution time, max post size, max upload, max parse time) and in my.cnf (max packet size, and potentially others).

Examples of applications are phpmyadmin or some custom scripts (XML imports from external API backends).

I know how to tweak the core configuration files, but I would like a more granular approach.

So the first question would be how to set a custom configuration for both php and mysql for phpmyadmin on an ispconfig3 server (with debian squeeze)?

Second, what do I need to do to make the server listen to set_php_ini commands from within a php script?
How would I proceed for my.cnf settings from within a PHP script?

Thanks for your help!

ok, it looks like phpmyadmin uses the apache2 php.ini file and the websites use the local files /var/www/conf/web1/php.ini which can be modified with special settings.

Good enough for me!
