Yes. hostname is correct

$ cat /etc/postfix/main.cf | grep hostname
Code:
smtpd_banner = $myhostname ESMTP $mail_name (Ubuntu)
myhostname = ser01.mydomain.com
$ hostname
Code:
ser01.mydomain.com
$ hostname -f
Code:
ser01.mydomain.com
On domain register website under "A(Host)"
Host Points to
Code:
@	xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (fixed ip)
mail	xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (fixed ip)
ser01	xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (fixed ip)
ser01.mydomain.com is the hostname for "ser01 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx". "mail xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" was added later.

Edit:

Performed following test.

Edited the hostname as "mail.mydomain.com" on /etc/postfix/main.cf, /etc/hosts and /etc/hostname. Reboot server and sent another mail to the server, mail still rejected.

$ hostname
mail.mydomain.com

$ hostname -f
